DEPAULI, LOUIS EDWARD was born on December 11, 1926. He died peacefully at home on October 23, 2012. Ed was born and raised in Gallup, New Mexico. He graduated from high school in 1945 and enlisted in the army immediately afterward. After completing his service, he graduated from Creighton University in 1950 and received his law degree from University of Colorado in 1953. Ed worked in the FBI from 1953-56. He went into private law practice in 1957 and was elected District Attorney of McKinley County in 1961. In 1975, he was appointed District Judge and served as Judge until 1988. Ed was involved in many civic and fraternal groups including Prince Luigi and Elks Lodge. Recently, he was recognized by the New Mexico State Legislature for his many accomplishments and public service. Ed married Joan Corcoran in 1958 and they have five children and thirteen grandchildren. Ed loved spending time outdoors with his family. He was an avid gardener, golfer, fisherman, hunter and chef. He was a master at crossword puzzles and cryptograms. He summed up his priorities by telling a friend recently, ” be happy and stay close to your family.” Ed is survived by his wife Joan; sons Louis E. DePauli, Jr and Michael C. DePauli; daughters, Patricia Woods, Gayle Knight, and Martha DePauli; and sisters Peggy Marsh, Mary Ann Roveda and Eileen Adcock. He has thirteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Tulio and Helen DePauli; brother John DePauli; and sister Barbara Rich. Services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Rosary begins at 10:30 am and Mass at 11:00am.
