CHESTER, MILTON ROWLEY, D.D. A much loved father, grandfather and life minister, Milton Rowley Chester, D.D., of Pocono, PA left our presence on April 27, 2013 to “soar with the eagles.” He graduated from Stroudsburg High School in 1950, enlisted in the Air Force which sent him to Alamogordo, NM where he found his wife of 54 years, Della Ann Chester. Ann preceded him in death in 2006. Dr. Chester received a Bachelor of Arts from McMurry University, Master Divinity from Drew University Seminary, and a Honorary doctorate from McMurry University. Over the duration of his career he served in 21 different appointments throughout New Mexico and Northwest, Texas. His other responsibilities beyond his ministry encompassed board of directors for many charities, community involvement, committee leadership, professor at ENMU, membership with several civic organizations, and editor of his book “On Eagles Wings.” Milt and Ann are survived by their three daughters Verna, Kim, and Cene; six grandchildren: Cami, Matthew, Aaron, Steven, Whitney, and Dustin; great-grandchildren Carson, Kennedy, Maya, Jayceon, Serenity, Chesney, and Lillian Mae. Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Lubbock, Texas at 11:00am. Memorials may be made to McMurry Univeristy Library or a charity of their choice.
