LANGELL, BOBBY (BOB) ARLEN Age 80, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2012, in San Francisco, CA. He was surrounded by his dear friends, Jose Velasquez, Larry Schram, Cruz Mendoza, and Juan Manuel Bravo, and his niece, Debbie Galloway. Born September 15, 1932, in Wooster, Ohio, Bob moved to Albuquerque in 1945. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1950, and then earned his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico. Bob entered the Navy in 1956. After serving his country, Bob returned to Albuquerque, where he opened Langell’s Art Supply, later renamed New Mexico Art Supply across from U.N.M. and Poorman’s Picture Framing on Central. In the 1960s, he moved to Oakland, CA, where he opened Robert’s Art Supply, later renamed California Art Supply. He closed his stores and retired over ten years ago. In addition to being a successful business man, Bob was a singer, actor, and painter. He loved to travel, and even climbed from the outside the great pyramids in Cairo. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and was a loving brother, uncle, and friend. His presence and enormous generosity will be dearly missed. He is survived by his sister, Karen Langell Rose; and his brother, John Langell; many nieces and nephews and their children. His parents, Jack and Ethel Langell, and his brother Dick preceded him in death. Bob will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, CA, on Monday, September 30, 2012.
