AKERS, STEVEN DANIEL SR. Age 38, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013. Steven peacefully passed away in his sleep due to complications of his heart. He was born to Louella “Lulu” Lopez on September 2, 1974. Steven joined his brother Frank H. Akers. He has left behind his son, Steven Daniel Akers Jr, Jacob, Raven and Somaya; a beloved girlfriend of many years, Erica Rael; his siblings, Jay J, Fransine and Dominic, along with his little sister, Sonja; many aunts and uncles. He enjoyed reading, listing to music and spending time with his kids and mom. He was a wonderful son and father. Loved by everyone and had many friends from Nelson’s Meat market during chile season. His mother Lulu is especially missing her son. His Memorial service will be at New Beginnings, 3601 Montgomery Blvd NE, Albuq., NM 87109, 505-833-9079. Reception to follow.

ETLANTIS, RAYLAH Age 57, of Albuquerque, passed Wednesday, April 3, 2013. She is survived by husband, Ken Shaffer; daughters, Maiya Logan and husband, Brandon, Alandren Etlantus and husband, Jose, and Shareena Haly Etlantus Shaffer; son, Niran Etlantus and wife, Caitlin; parents, Bernard and Mary Panfil; grandchildren, Izzabelle, Eden, Colin, and Fletcher; brothers, Barney Panfil and wife, Cindy, Dave Panfil and wife, Susie, Rick Panfil and wife, Chris. Raylah was a member of the Albuquerque Threshold Choir who sings for hospice patients at their bedsides. She was also involved in various women’s circles. She became a facilitator in EMDR, helping people with Traumatic Stress Disorder. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013, 2:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Westside. Raylah was a loving wife and mother and a devoted “Nana”. She deeply touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. She was a resident of Albuquerque and the East Mountains from 1953 to 2009. She attended Cornell University and was a working artist and world traveler for many years. Chris was a graduate of Assumption Grade School, St. Pius X High School, attended UNM and TVI before accepting employment with AT&T in Maryland. He retired last year after 32 years of service. Chris’s interests were in electronics, photography, and especially Formula One Racing. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Timothy Keene and is survived by his love, Nancy Owsley of Reston, Virginia; parents, Frank and Joanne Keene of Albuquerque; brothers, Pat and wife, Debbie of Albuquerque; Jerry and wife, Christine of Truchas, NM; Bill and wife, Stephanie of Austin, Texas; nieces, Erin, Amy, and Kelly Keene and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is survived by his wife, Laura Pagan; children, Karina Pagan and Evelyn Pagan-Gibbons; parents, Pedro and Debra Pagan of Prince George, VA, Ron and Polly LaTray-Bachman of Cut Bank, MT; sisters and brothers; nieces, nephews and friends. Jay’s childhood best friends were his sister Victoria Pagan and his brother Toby Bill; other siblings are Lisa, Nicole, and Daniel Pagan. Jay’s world revolved around his wife and his girls whom he loved dearly. He lived and breathed for his baby girl, Karina. He spent his life helping others, first in the Army as a Medic and later as a Registered Nurse. He was an innovative thinker and was full of great ideas. Jay had a love of the outdoors that included biking, hiking, camping and skydiving. Jay and Laura spent many hours in the outdoors with family, just the way he loved it. WENZLER, CENIA RUDNYK Age 89, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1974, passed away on April 3, 2013. Shortly after the German invasion of the Ukraine in 1941, Cenia, then 17 years old, was transported by the Germans to Rolandswerth, Germany. As a slave worker, she was forced to work in a hotel on the Rhine River, until the war ended in 1945. She met her husband, Ray, in Bremerhaven Germany in September 1945 and they were married in June 15, 1946 in a union that lasted for 62 years. After multiple years in New York, they settled in Albuquerque. Cenia was preceded in death by her husband Ray and son Charles. She is survived by her son Joseph and his wife Nancy of Kennesaw, Georgia; daughter-in-law Lynn of Scottsdale, Arizona; along with four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Cenia is survived by her special nephew, Vladimir Rudnyk and his family in the Ukraine. Cenia was homemaker, an avid gardener, seamstress, and cook and was a good friend to her neighbors and circle of friends. She was an active member in her church. A special thank you to the caring staff at Woodmark Assisted Living and Highpointe Assisted Living in Albuquerque. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church by Monsignor Bennett J. Voorhies at 8:30 a.m. on April 11, 2013. BRUNNER, MELANIE ANN Melanie, of Tesuque, NM passed away on Thursday, April 4th, after many years of bravely fighting a neurological illness under the care of her loving husband, J. Terrence Brunner. She was born in Chicago, IL, to Francis and Cecilia Marley. The family moved to Indianapolis, IN where she graduated from St. Agnes’s Academy. She went on to graduate from Averett College in Danville, VA and became a flight attendant for Delta Airlines. While she was with Delta, she met and married Terry and they celebrated their 47th anniversary together last December. She lived in Winnetka for 30 years with her husband, Jules Terrence Brunner, Executive Director of the Better Government Association. Melanie loved to travel, and in 1986, after years at home being a wonderful mother, started an almost 20 year career as a manager and travel agent with the Travel 100 group in Winnetka, IL. She was active in the Junior League of Chicago as an Art Docent in the Chicago Public Schools. She Enjoyed working with the Brookefield Zoo as a Women’s Board member. She was preceded in death by her father, Francis; mother, Cecilia; step-mother, Margaret; and her sister, Cynthia. She is survived by her loving and caring husband, J. Terrence Brunner of Santa Fe, NM; children, Mark, Terry and Brooke; by five wonderful grandchildren: Alex, Caroline, Audrey, Bennett and Marlo. A memorial service will be held at San Isidro Mission Church In Tesuque on May 4, 2013 at 10:00 am. BRADFORD, MARY CATHERINE A resident of Sandia Park, NM, died early Monday morning the 8th of April 2013 in her home with her family by her side. Born 1944 in Dubuque, I.A., Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Monica Kuhl along with brother, John Kuhl. Mary graduated from High School at the Academy of the Visitation in Dubuque IA in 1962 and entered the University of Iowa in the fall, graduating with B.A. of Sociology in 1968. Following graduation, Mary lived in Boston, MA for part of 1968, then moved to Denver CO, where she worked as a social worker and met her future husband in 1969. They were married on Nov 14, 1970 in Dubuque, and subsequently lived in Nevada, Iowa, Illinois and North Carolina. Later, she continued her education at Bellevue Area Community College, receiving her Associates degree in Computer Programming in 1988 and transitioned from social work to information technology working for the Army Reserve Personal Center in St. Louis, MO. Mary and her family moved to Albuquerque NM in 1991 where she retired in 2005 as a Computer Programmer Analyst Supervisor with the State of New Mexico. Mary and her husband were avid travelers enjoying the NC beaches and New England, but her first love was always the West. She thrived on being around her family and friends and was a devoted wife, an inspirational mother and loving grandmother, “Mimi”. Mary’s loved ones learned something new every day from her. She enjoyed collecting breathtaking artwork and knick knacks from the many places she visited. Mary’s family and friends cherished her warm and giving heart and she touched everyone she met. Mary had a bright smile, unforgettable eyes and an amazingly strong heart. Mary is survived by her husband of 42 years, Steven C. Bradford; her two daughters, Kelly Bradford and Katie (Dean) Karch; three grandchildren, Anthony, Brandon and Rachel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yolanda Cortinas whom he married on November 16, 1968 until December 11, 1978.
