LOWE, JOHN G. JR. Born June 5, 1922, John passed away while asleep on 30 April 2013 in Tucson, AZ. A career Marine who experienced three pacific campaigns in WWII, and three campaigns in Korea, held a wide variety of assignments in his 22+ year career including amphibious assault infantry, air wing, ground intercept, recruit training, towed and tracked artillery, force recon, ships security company, and several school and senior staff assignments. His most remembered assignments were as First Sergeant with Golf Battery, 11th Marines, First Sergeant for ships company USS Hancock, CV-19, First Sergeant for USMC Reserve Center Albuquerque NM, Squadron Sergeant Major Marine Corps Ground Intercept Squadron 1 at Kunsan Korea, and as Personnel Sergeant Major Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, serving with Lt General (then Maj Gen) Warnham and Maj Gen (then Colonel) Bruno Hockmuth. While part of troop movement on his way to the pacific theater in 1943, his train was held up overnight for minor repairs in Tucumcari, NM. When the town arranged a dance for the Marines on board with the local young women, John met the love of his life and his future wife of 38 years, Claire (Ernest). Married in 1947, John and Claire raised three children while traveling between duty stations until finally settling in Albuquerque, NM in 1961. John retired in 1965, and spent the next 30 years in sales, finally retiring as a regional manager for Tri-Chem, Inc. Due to his age and declining health he moved to Tucson in 2001 to live with his family. He was predeceased by his parents, John G. Lowe Sr. and Alice (Pesnell) of Meridian MS, and 13 half-brothers and sisters. He is survived by his half-brother John Oliver Lowe and half-sister Mae Auvil, both of Alabama; and two of his children, Glynda and Dennis, both of Tucson, AZ; along with many nephews and nieces. John took great joy in his wife and family, his Marine Corps, and his many friends over his long life. At his own request, John will be cremated and his ashes scattered in several locations he loved. BLAIS, NORMAND (NORM) CONRAD Age 87, died in Albuquerque on April 27, 2013, from complications from pneumonia. Born January 4, 1926, in Springfield, Massachusetts to Joseph and Rosina Blais, Norm was an only child. Norm served in the United States Army with the 1269th Combat Engineering Battalion as a T4 from 1943 to 1946 fighting in the European Theater. Norm was honorably discharged in February 1946. Following his service, Norm received his Bachelors of Science from Union College and his Doctorate at Yale in the field of Physics. Norm worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory until his retirement in 1991. His pioneering work included the first ever computer simulation of a real experiment in chemical dynamics in 1962. Norm published nearly 90 papers and articles in prestigious science journals and symposiums. Norm worked as visiting scientist program until he was 75. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carmy and his three children: Ellen Louise Gibson and her husband Rex of Wiggins, Colorado, Mark Joseph Blais and his wife Benita of Albuquerque, and Neil Curtis Blais and his wife Destin of Little Elm, Texas. He has three grand children Crystal and Brian Gibson, and Nash Blais (Neil’s son). Per Norm’s request, he is being cremated and being placed privately with only immediate family present and no services. He was a loving husband, terrific father, and loved learning of nature. BRUCKNER, GREGORY DAN Greg was born in Canton, Ohio on August 15, 1969 the son of Danny Dee and Eva Jane Bruckner. His father passed away in December 1971 and is buried in Canton. Greg resided with his mother and his grandmother Martha Jane Mandich in Albuquerque. He attended middle and high school in Albuq. and was a member at St. Paul’s Methodist Church. He relocated with his mother to California, where he was employed as a general laborer and telemarketer. He enjoyed hiking and camping. Greg passed away on March 28, 2013 at the age of 43 years old. His cremains will be placed in the Vista Verde Memorial Park near his grandmother, who passed away in November, 1993. He was dearly loved and will be missed very much.

Harden of Albuquerque, NM; and by his three loving grandchildren, Audrey, Chelsi, and Madelyn. He is also survived by his brothers, James Ferguson and wife, Peggy of Del Valle, TX, Larry Ferguson of Pleasanton, TX and Ralph Ferguson and wife, Cathy of La Grange, TX. Will graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in Chemistry and went on to earn both, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Texas Medical Branch, and a M.D. from the Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez. He specialized in Anesthesiology and Pediatrics. He worked at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM from 1983 to 1999, and then served as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of New Mexico until his retirement in 2004. Will is remembered as a consummate professional with a passion for teaching and helping those in pain. Will had an infectious laugh and a gift for telling jokes. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending his time playing golf, hunting and fishing. The scenery and wildlife of the mountains provided Will deep enjoyment. He frequently impressed upon his children an appreciation for the American Wilderness, the National Parks, American History, and the pride and work of those who came before us. Ralph joined his beloved wife of 70 years, Oma Ballinger, who preceded him in death on October 9, 2011. Ralph is survived by his children and their spouses, Kay Ballinger and Steve Schroeder, Lori Ballinger and Michael Goodrich, Julie Ballinger and Terry Brigance, Steven and Leslie Ballinger.
