BUSSEY, DR. ROBERT (BOB) E. Bob went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 16, 2012. For the many lives that he touched during his short time on this earth, he was known by many titles; Dr. Bussey, Robert, Bob, Dad, Papa, and Honey. Born on July 6, 1952, Bob graduated from Sandia High School, attended the University of New Mexico where he obtained a BS and MA in Biology and a DDS at the University of Missouri at Kansas City Dental School where he set the path for his professional career. Returning to his native home in Albuquerque, NM in 1980 with his young family, Bob began his General Family Dental Practice and incorporated some Orthodontics. During his 32 years of practice, his patients and his staff became an extension of his family whom he cherished very much. Deeply respected by his colleagues, Bob was an involved member of the dental community throughout his career. Among some of his accomplishments was President of the Albuquerque District Dental Society in 2002 – 2003, President of the Optimist Club Sunport in 1993 – 1994, President of the National Exchange Club 1985 – 1986, served on many boards, and a member in various study groups. His practice was a reflection of himself; simple, dedicated and loving. Bob was a man of strong faith, principal, dedication and character. He lived life with passion, had a deep appreciation for those less fortunate, and always took time to care for those in his life. A proud member of the Risen Savior Catholic Community, he graciously offered his time in support of countless charities and community service efforts. Together with his wife, they enjoyed volunteering in activities to support abused children and the homeless. Those ministries that he enjoyed and brought him such pleasure was building houses for Habitat for Humanity, making and serving meals for St Martins, and donating his time at the Roadrunner Food Bank. He was a loving and committed husband, a role model for his proud sons, and a best friend to his young granddaughter. Throughout his life he enjoyed many outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, coaching and engaging in sports with his children. Later on golf with his wife and friends became an additional pleasure. His sons and all of their accomplishments brought Bob a great sense of pride and fulfillment. But Bob’s life began all over again with his only grandchild, Jaden. His short time with her brought back a sense of innocence and fun that we all search for in life. His smile became her smile and we know that he will be watching over her as she grows. Bob is survived by a loving wife of 37 years, Rita Bussey; son Jeffrey Bussey; his daughter Jaden Bussey and her mother, Celina Bussey; son Justin Bussey and his fiance Meredith Morgan; mother, Mildred Harte; birth father, Edward Alexander, step-father, Hank Harte; sisters, Nancy Jenkins and Andi Schoonover, and many nieces, and nephews, He was preceded in death by his adopted father, Gene Bussey; and sister, Gigi Benton.
