Macedonia ” Maisie” Lesperance

Lesperance, Macedonia O. (Maisie) Age 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 5, 2016 in Socorro, NM following a brief illness. She was born in Magdalena, NM on September 26, 1927, to Alisandro and Romanita (Padilla) Otero. She was the eldest of 9 children. She married the love of her life, Albino, on August 20, 1949, just three months after having met him. They had 19 years and 8 children together. Albino passed away on September 24, 1968, leaving Maisie to be both mother and father to her 8 children. She never remarried. When asked if she would ever remarry, she would say, ” I only loved one man in my life, and nobody will ever take his place”. Maisie was employed for many years as a housekeeper at the old Socorro General Hospital on Neel Street. When the new hospital opened at it’s present location, Maisie continued to work there until her retirement in 1992. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albino Lesperance; two sons, Albino Lesperance, Jr., and Bobby Lee Lesperance; son in law, Phillip Anaya Jr.; grandson, Raymond Baker; 3 sisters, Marian Otero Lopez, Inez Otero Napoleon, and Trini Otero; her brother, Alex Otero Jr.; and a baby brother and a baby sister, Ernestina and Freddie. Macedonia is survived by her children, Rosalie Anaya, Charles Lesperance, Harold and Valorie Lesperance, Danny and Patricia Lesperance, Carmen Trujillo and Luciano Lesperance, her brother and sister, Lola Otero and Pete Otero; sister in law, Mary Apodaca; and her grandchildren, Joey Anaya and Kristina Andazola; Alvin Lesperance and Amanda Bunds; B.J., J.J. and A.J. Lesperance, Regina Ewell, Crystal Evans, April Lesperance and Shelby Pace, Robert Trujillo and Naomi Lucero. Maisie was blessed with many great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a viewing at Daniels Family Funeral Services in Socorro on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 9am to 10:00am with a memorial Service to follow at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at San Acacia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Lesperance, Harold Lesperance, Danny Lesperance, Luciano Lesperance, Joey Anaya, Alvin Lesperance and Robert Trujillo. Chacon, Calistro (Kelly) Age 77, was born on December 19, 1938. Kelly completed his journey on this earth on Sunday, June 12, 2016. He was a lifelong resident of the Barelas neighborhood, a peacetime veteran of the Vietnam War. Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, Trinni and George Chacon; nephew, Victor Chacon; niece Pamela Pacheco. Kelly is survived by brother, Wilfred Chacon, sister, Shirley Lovato and husband, Ruben; aunt, Josie Arellano; sister in law, Katy Chacon; nieces, Lisa, Valerie and Ann Marie; nephews, Greg, Bullets, Vince, Mark and John and many great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Christus St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe and Ambercare of Albuquerque. Gilbert “Givie” L. Montoya, age 82, beloved father, grandfather, companion, and brother, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, June 12, 2016. He was born in Escabosa, NM and was a resident of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Sinforosa Montoya; and his son, Gilbert Montoya, Jr. Gilbert is survived by his sons, Paul Montoya and wife Erica, and Joseph Montoya; his grandchildren, Jade, Jasmine, and Dominick Montoya; great-grandchildren, Jaydn, Josiah, Sophia Montoya, and Noel Brion; his companion, Mae Garcia. Also surviving are his brothers, Joe Prospero and wife Roseann, Henry and wife Lizzie, Mike Martinez, Jr.; his sisters, Lourdes Garcia and husband Willie, Pauline Garcia, and Rita Eberting and husband Darrell; numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. Gilbert will be greatly missed by all. LaMay, Robert Thomas Age 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at his home south of San Antonio, NM. He was born in Carrizozo, NM on July 21, 1922, to Leroy and Mamie (Ferguson) LaMay. He was the youngest of nine brothers and sisters. He served his country in the US Army during WWII and was the recipient of a bronze star for valor. Robert worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Lincoln Co. road dept. for many years before retiring. Robert enjoyed fishing and was an inventor extraordinare. Nobody could “bailing wire” things like he could. He was a devoted family man. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Jan Cox; grandson, David LaMay; and his eight brothers and sisters. Robert is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Anna Mae (Stearns) LaMay; children, Thomas William ‘Billy’ LaMay and wife, Elaine, Robert E. LaMay and wife, Sherry, and Edith Dobbins and husband, Grover; son-in-law, Stan Cox; grandchildren, Lance, Heath, Shane, Mitzi, Everett, Tommy and Stacy; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. On June 18, 2016, Solomon “Sal” Fresquez, completed his earthly journey and returned to his beloved Lord. He was born in Mora, NM on January 9, 1938, to Demetrio and Clorinda Fresquez. He graduated from East Las Vegas High School (now Robertson High School) in 1956. After completing high school, Sal married the love of his life, Theresa Baca to whom he was married for 61 years. Sal was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest son, David. Sal is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; children, Kenny (Louise), Lenny (Linda), Yvonne Fresquez, Tim (Theresa); daughter in law, Laura Fresquez; grandchildren, Eric Fresquez, Pablo Montano, David Montano, Leonard (Meghan) Fresquez, Leanne Fresquez, Lamar Fresquez, Kenny, Ryan Fresquez and Brandon Fresquez, Yvonne (Carlos) Aguirre, Monique Martinez partner Sean, Dominic (Tina) Flores, Jeremy Fresquez; great-grandchildren, Sage Fresquez, Jonathan Fresquez, Angelina Flores, Dominic Jr. Flores, Xavier, Dasia Aguirre, Julian Aguirre, Uriah, Jeanette, Cicere Montano, Sadea Montano; three siblings, Demetrio (Nellie), Beatrice Romero, Anna (Tom) Huey. Sal was known for his tremendous work ethic and determination to succeed. In high school he held down three jobs. After he and Theresa were married, they moved to Albuquerque where Sal obtained an employment with Valley Gold Dairy for whom he worked for 18 years. There he was known for being a loyal, dedicated and hard working employee. Sal left Valley Gold to go into the liquor business. For 27 years he with the help and support of Theresa and the family, successfully operated Sal’s Discount Liquors. He created the success of the business through hard work, determination and loyal customers whom he treated as family. Prior to his retirement, Sal also successfully managed other business enterprises including Farmers Feed Store. Sal was a passionate sports fan who enjoyed watching football, basketball and boxing on television. He was a boxing enthusiast who attended as many of the Holly Holms fights that were promoted by his son Lenny. He loved fishing and going to the family ranch in Mora to cut wood and Christmas Trees. Hard labor was a common means of relaxation for Sal. Sal was also passionate about his politics. A life long Democrat, he loved attednding political conventions, precinct meeting, working for candidates, distributing candidates literature discussing politics at every level, watching debates and getting people to vote. He was the kind of foot soldier who candidates count on to help get elected. Many of his long lasting friendships came to be as a result of his involvement in politics. Sal was a devout Catholic, a loving husband, devoted family man, a successful but humble businessman who never forgot his humble beginnings and who was always willing to help the less fortunate. His wife and family and everyone whose lives he touched will miss him dearly. Family Visitation will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 5:00 PM with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 PM at St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 3424 Fourth St. NW. Mass of Resurrection will be on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro Dr. NE. Reception will follow interment at Parish Hall at St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church. Kline, Patsy F. Patsy Kline (Ballard), of Brownfield, TX, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 20th, 2016. She has joined heaven to be reunited with her husband, Wesley Kline, and grandson, Erik Walls. Patsy leaves her loving memories to be cherished by son: Richard Ronald Walls and wife, Judy, grandson Matthew and great granddaughter Amelia, grandson Devon and wife Brooke, grandson Dillon and partner Samantha and great grandsons Boddhri and Ira. Baca, Lino Age 63, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at his home in Polvadera, NM surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Socorro, NM on September 10, 1952, to Rafael L. and Amalia (Lopez) Baca. Lino was a life long resident of Socorro Co., living the last 20 years in Polvadera. He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors, but his greatest love was his wife and his family. Lino was devoted to his family and strong in his faith. He was a musician and could be seen playing the guitar for many rosary services. Lino was a true “mountain man” and worked for the US Forest Service for a few years. He was a firefighter and he taught his son the trade. Lino will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Lino is survived by wife of 41 years, Eva (Archibeque) Baca; daughter, Lorraine Y. (Jonathan Apodaca) Baca; sons, Lino R. (Destiny) Baca and Gabriel (Tori Murrillo) Baca; sisters, Rosie Gurule, Margie Baca, Della Sarracino, Edwina Armijo, Unella Baca, and Helen Strausser; brothers, Gilbert Baca, Ricky Baca, Gregorio Baca, and Kenneth Baca; grandchildren, Asia, Autumn, Lino, Amadeus, Tonka, Summer, Aliyah, and Sterling; great-grandson, Julio. Bassett, Wesley Edward Wesley Edward Bassett of Rio Rancho, NM, at the age of 73, went to be with his Lord, as he was surrounded by his family on June 23, 2016 following a short illness. He was born in Dover, NJ to Edward and Irma Bassett on July 4, 1942. Wes will be remembered for his commitment to the Lord, his family, and his community. He was a public school teacher/administrator, volunteer fireman and EMT. Additionally, he was a member of the Anna Kaseman Hospital Patient and Family Advisory Council; Rust Community Advisory Board; the Design Committee for the Jorgensen Cancer Center; the Sandoval County Republican Party; the Sandoval County Planning and Zoning Board; the Rio Rancho Calvary Chapel, and various other organizations. Wes leaves behind Spankie Lou Bassett, his best friend and wife of 35 years; his sister Ardelle Stewart; six adult children: Buffy Swenson; Christy Gonzales; Eddie Bassett; Kim Dowden; Lynn Brashar; Scott Bassett, and their spouses; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; along with numerous other family and friends.
